From forklift truck to car: Linde transformations at MobiliTec 2012

MobiliTec begins on 23 April as part of the large HANNOVER MESSE 2012. The leading international fair for hybrid and electric powertrain technology offers Linde Material Handling the perfect setting for presenting 40 years of expertise and innovation going far beyond forklift development and production.

The MobiliTec fair in Hannover is the highlight of the year for anyone with an interest in electromobility, one of the key topics for the drive technology of tomorrow. The fair offers an ideal platform for companies to present projects, innovations and visions in this field. Linde Material Handling will be staging a major show for fair visitors on the grounds of the exhibition centre: Maik Manthey, head of the department responsible for electronic systems and drive technology, will be speaking on “The Metamorphosis from Industrial Trucks to E-Mobility Applications” at the MobiliTec Forum on 25 April.

“German engineering has decades of experience in electromobility. The industrial truck sector has been manufacturing electric forklift trucks and storage technology equipment for decades, but has hardly received any attention,” says Theodor Maurer, chairman of the Management Board of Linde Material Handling.

Since 2010 Linde has also been making its development and production expertise available to other manufacturers. They clearly benefit from Linde Material Handling know-how, as the first highly successful projects already demonstrate. Working in partnership with the Karabag company, Linde has developed the New 500E, an electric vehicle whose powertrain is essentially based on forklift truck components. The most powerful project is the ROTRAC E2 for the Zwiehoff company, an electronically driven special locomotive that is capable of pulling up to 250 tonnes. This veritable powerhouse is being developed and built by Linde and Linde subsidiary Proplan in Aschaffenburg.

On its own, too, Linde literally leaves its competitors standing: the Linde E1 kart has already earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records as a result of its outstanding acceleration.

With its eight international leading fairs, HANNOVER MESSE 2012 covers a broad range of subjects. As this year’s partner country, the People’s Republic of China will be presenting an extensive modernization programme and is placing special emphasis on intelligent solutions for protecting the environment. Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel will also be discovering more about the latest products and ideas at HANNOVER MESSE 2012.
